Chris,
 The MAF sits right in front of the filter in stock form. I just want  to 
move it over to the intake side and let the turbo blow through it instead of  
sucking through it. It wouldn't have any more debris over there than it would  
right in front of the air filter. My worry is more about how turbulant the air  
will be at that point and if it will just suck the hot wire right out.

The only potential problem is debris damaging the MAF  (assuming it
would be in front of the filter). Now if you addressed that  issue with
a screen or flter it should be fine in my  thinking.
