200Avant - water ingress

I have a 1987 200 quattro Avant with air-con. Recently detected that the
right hand rear foot well was well soaked with water. Further investigation
revealed that front right foot well was also soaking. Vehicle is right-hand
drive.

Any advice on the most usual causes of water leaking into this model
gratefully appreciated - there are no obvious signs or staining of the
head-lining so I don't think its the sun-roof or windows.
