Brandon,
  Congrats on you purchase.  ITs a nice car.  Not much
you can do for power but you can make it handle sweet.
Does it have records.  If not, I'd start with a fluid
change.  (Coolant, oil, brake, tranny, rear diff). 
ANd new plugs, cap, rotor.    Then do an inspection of
suspension, etc or have someone do it and start your
path toward dumping money into it to make it handle
better than it does already. :-)
