I have replaced the R-12 in my 87 5kTQ with R134a using a kit from 
Interdynamics. The low pressure side is on the compressor and the high 
pressure side is in the upper left corner in front of the radiator, under the 
plastic cover. My kit had screw on ports that fit the R-12 Schraeder (sp?) 
ports and converted them to the quick connect ports used for R134a. I only 
changed the ports and added the oil from my kit. It works great, I live near 
Chicago, except that I still have a small leak in the condenser.

<< Has anyone converted there 5ktq (mine is and 88) to R134. I got a kit, but 
the 
ports that it comes with don't look like it will fit. From what I can tell 
the high 
pressure port is on the compressor, and the low pressure port is built into a 
line coming from the condersor. Does the canister need to be replaced? Any 
help would be appreciated.
