I've sold a set of rims on ebay, you can use UPS it's pretty cheap. To ship
4 15" OE Coupe Quattro wheels from Chicago to DC cost me $35 including
insurance. You can either go to a wheel/tire store and get actual rim boxes,
which not only fit the rims perfectly but are near indestructable for
shipping, or you can do as the tirerack does, strap rims together with
cardboard/bubblerap circles protecting the inner and outter edges. You can
mail loose rims/tire through UPS like that, but I think they charge a small
special handling fee per item. Moral of the story is, a box is not nesecary
if you can devise a way to safely protect the rims. However, if you can find
a box, it makes life a lot easier.
UPS can pick up at your house for a small fee $5 or so i think.
1-800-pick-ups. I'd advise against using a middle man (mailboxes etc, etc)
unless you dont mind grabbing your ankles and assuming the position.

I'm conserving bandwith here, consolidating my thoughts into one mesage. . on
the RS2/4 thread from the other day someone suggested that audi must have had
extra avant bodies left over and that is why they chose to make the R vehicle
out of them. I would quite disagree. I think its just a novelty for the
manufactuers to take your biggest baddest engine and stuff it in your biggest
car. Muscle car guys have been souping up wagons here in the states since
back in the day. Even today, I know a guy who dropped a LT-4 vette engine w/
a 150hp shot of NOS in his Chevy Caprice wagon, it ran 13.1 in the 1/4.
Another guy I met in Indianapolis one time had AMG stuff a 5.xx liter v8 in
his previous bodystyle E-series wagon, it ran low 13's in the 1/4. The
previous bodystyle (which would make it the 2nd of 3 bodystyles?) WMB m5 was
factory available as an avant in Germany too.
Having just received my hardcover German language RS4 brochure, I can
testify, the RS4 is one of the meanest vehicles I have ever seen, defintely
the best looking wagon in my opnion too. 0-100km/h in 5.9 or so I think the
brochure stated.
