4ksq turbo conversion

Hmmm...
I'm a bit excited. I'm working on picking up an '87 5kta, which will
be used for the motor for my 4ksq instead of my '88 5kcstq.
I was just realizing that if I wanted to go to 5 bolt hubs on the
4kstq, then I can probably use the front strut housings from the
automatic fwd, and then drill the rear hubs. Is it that easy? I
realize I'd want to remove the stock perches in front, and make the
4ksq strut inserts fit the housing a la a shimming tube or
something, and other miscellaneous fitment things like the ball
joints or whatever in front, but I don't actually need a "quattro" 5kt
to do this, do I?
I may need some 5kt rear driveshafts tho', to work with the front
housings. Or do I? Can I just use the fwd 5kt driveshafts, or are
they too long due to the track width?
Let me just confirm what I think I know about using auto cars for
donors: I have to get a flywheel, and swap the pilot bearing in the
driveshaft. The computers are the same, in that I will be able to put
a 1.8 bar chip in it? Are there any other differences?
This is so freaking cool. If this works out, then I will not have to
cannibalize my '88 5kcstq, which is actually very nice. I pretty
much decided that if I keep a Type44, then I will get a later model
with the newer dash and door handles (and engine/ignition system
et al), if not a '91 20vt.
Do 5kt automatic fwd's have G60's up front?
And I'll actually have two running cars while I do the swap! Tee hee!
Damn! :-)
Thanks all!
Ken
