Spot on. The single bulb, dual-filament H4 was not designed to run both
filaments simultaneously, IMHO. Everything I've heard/read has told me
that it's just too much heat _for the bulb_, not for the lens assembly,
obviously.

But, for the $5-$10 that the bulb costs, if you really want to, give it a
try and see how long it lasts. Of course, please be kind to oncoming
traffic! It would be interesting to compare "low-output" 55/65w lights
with "high-output" 80/100w lights in this manner.
