Hi guys,
Car Audi 90S Q 1993, 157 000 km

What up with my head problem, (it is a true headache)

Well, my mechanic have removed the head, and we discovered a broken valve spring at the location of the problematic cylinder and above the problematic and previously replaced lifter.

The most interesting thing is that there are beautiful valve impact marks on the pistons. I took some pictures this morning for web site purpose (I thing to 12V site). When I bought the car, 7 month ago, the seller gave me a Audi dealer receipt of 1500 can $ (including 9 hour of job). He had done the timing belt job. He was towed to the Audi dealer, being stock 200 km away. He told me that he was towed because a radiator hose broken. Now, you can conclude like me, because there is no hose part on the bill but rather some head parts, that he broken the timing belt at 145 000 km. And you know the result with an interfering engine. My mechanic confirmed that the head have been previously removed and worked.

That the story of my long standing acceleration problem when the engine was running at normal temperature.

To conclude, I have asked to my mechanic to remove the other head and to do a complete valve job: I mean, changing the seal and all the spring and lifter and look to bended valve and look to the piston shape.

By this time, he will replace my broken steering boot (easy to replace with the intake removed) and replace the valley pan gasket too, as well as head and exhaust and intake gaskets.

What about the bill, well, fortunately, head parts for the V6 12 v are not too expensive but it need time. I will give you more detail when I will be back at home. (I leave for 5 days for job purpose).

After having spend more than 1000$ to try to cure the acceleration problem, Yes, I thing I am happy about the present discovery.

Thank for your help.
