update on alternator noise over speakers

First thing that I would do, is to disconnect your RCA cables from the amp,
to make sure that it is not noise that is being picked up by those. I have
found that most of the time, the noise is picked up in the RCA cables, and
not in the power or ground cable. If you power up the stereo, and have the
engine running, you should be able to hear if the noise is still coming out
of the speakers with no audio input. If there is still noise, chase the
grounds, if not, go buy a good quality shielded set of insulated RCA cables,
and run them away from your other wires. They will cost you a bit, but they
will last longer, and be quieter.
