From general lurking activities I deduce that my '88 100 is galvanised,
but what about my 87 coupe GT, can anyone
give me a definitive answer?, is there any way I can check?, the car is
reassuringly lacking in rust.
whilst I'm on I also wondered if any one would like to comment on the
likely life span of my fuel pump. - It has always
(i've had the car three months), been audible inside the car when stationary
with the engine idling. To give you an idea of the noise level it can be
drowned out by setting the heater fan on to position 2. It is also inaudible
on the move. during the relatively short time i've had the car it has not
got any worse. Am I safe to assume its OK as is? the coupe of course has the
non-immersed type pump so I can't compare with that.
PS Re the autobox thread, mine's an auto but seems totally sound - should I
worry, is there anything other than fluid level to check?
PPs Re the engine oil thread, I beleive that VAG in the UK supply and
recommend 'Quantum Synta' synthetic blend. Surely this is good enough for
normal usage?
PPS PS Hot and cold starting - both of mine are unpredictable, hot or cold
sometimes they fire up instantly, sometimes they
take a bit of a churn. I've never worried about it.
Cheers
