Difference between Blisteins - Koni Red - Boge Turbogas on a 5ktq ?

Koni Adjustables are the only way I'd go from now on(IMHO). A little pricey,
but you can set them to how you like your ride to
be...soft/hard/whatever...going to the track? no problem, just dial'em in!

I've had Konis on 2 of my own cars, and 2 other friends prefer them over any
out there(and they told 2 friends, who told 2 friends, and so on, and so
on... ;))

Had a set of TurboGas in my 79' GTI, which were crap. One friend(who was
cheap) put a set of Turbos in his '92 GTI and bitched about them being too
soft the whole time he had the car, then put a set of Koni's in his '97 GTI.

Mom has a set of ProGas(that should speak for itself).

I've never had a set of Bilsteins, but I've sat in a car which did have
them... ...had to turn to the guy and say "you like the way this rides?!"...
...but I think it had more to do with the fact his car was riding on
'bumpstops'...and he's and idiot.

I'm sure the Bilstein system works for others, because so many people are
using them!, but I have yet the pleasure to.

Anyhoo, on the same subject, I've been speaking with a friend recently who's
looking for a setup for his A4q and can't really decide. We came to a mutual
decision (after much debate) that suspension setups are a 'personal
preference' sorta thing. What's great for one guy, maybe too soft for the
next, and so on. Also, I think it's sometimes 'hit and miss', you may think
your car setup is great till you drive the same car under a different setup
and it blows you away(or disappoints)...

...wouldn't it be nice if a shop would let you try different combinations,
till you got it -just- right... ...now THAT would be sweet!

Hairy green toads from Mars made BRIAN O'NEILL say:

Boge Turbo Gas are NOT the OEM shocks. Boge does make the
OEM units, but they are a hydraulic made for the purpose.

The Turbo gas are an excellent compromise between the stiff
made-for-the-track Bilsteins and the soft OEM hydraulics.
I have used them a number of times with excellent results.
Currently, they are on my '95 A6QW. Had them on my '90 90Q20V,
and my '85 Golf too.

There is also a Pro Gas which is supposed to be just a little
bit more forgiving on flat bumpy roads, but I've never tried them.

The Koni Red or Yellow adjustables gave a good ride, I had them
on my '89 100Q, but I was never impressed with their reliability.
I broke three of them, just commuting, no track use.

I've used the Bilsteins, they do handle GREAT, but they can rattle
the teeth right out of your skull on a crummy road.
