long distance q purchases

oh, that reminds me, I bought my Coupe from a fellow who lived on Cape
Cod.  We spoke on the telephone, he drove it up here for me to look over
and test drive - he wanted an excuse to go for a ride, I guess!  Then we
cut a deal on the phone.  I filled a secret compartment in my guitar
case with cash and took public transportation as far as I could, the
southernmost extent of the Red Line (MBTA).  He drove there with his
wife in their other vehicle, some proto-SUV thing, and we consummated
the transaction by parking lot lights.

Not truly "long distance", but I felt like typing.
