Sorry to hear of your lack of satisfaction in the airplane game here in
Florida. The way to make a small fortune in aviation is to start out with a
big fortune . . .
Unfortunately, there are a LOT of airplanes (and Audis) that don't work
right everywhere - it just seems that there are more of them in Florida
because Florida is a big aviation state and there are a LOT of airplanes here.
Further, many times people or companies who/that can't really afford an
airplane (or an Audi) get them even though the financials don't make sense
and can't support them. Guess what suffers: Maintenance! On Audi's, it
means leaky racks (a liter of Pentosin a month is cheaper than a rack),
non-working air conditioners, disconnected bombs to shut up the autocheck,
you know the drill. On airplanes, it means "paper annuals", untreated
corrosion problems and other deferred maintenance.
They hired the idiot nephew through sheer nepotism - junior needed a job
and they wanted to make or keep the exec happy. That happens a LOT,
everywhere, and jokes about hiring the moron brother-in-law have long been
a staple of stand-up comedians everywhere. It isn't limited to aviation,
and it certainly isn't limited to aviation in Florida.
As far as the work ethic goes, well, we do have our fair share of
goof-offs, incompetents, mouth-breathers, ambulant vegetables (and senile
voters), etc., but they are everywhere else, too - go see your local Audi
dealer if you don't believe me! At least in Florida, the weather is decent
most of the time. ;-)
Anyway, as someone very involved with both Audis and aviation (in Florida),
I can only quote the plaque that Jimmy Hoffa had on his desk: "Non
Illegitimi Carborundum", which is bastard Latin for "Don't let the bastards
wear you down". I try to forget that he wound up in a cement overcoat
somewhere in the Jersey meadows . . .
Best Regards,
