Those were incredible cars. But, you're not entirely correct. The 1988
Trans-Am cars (which I realize you are pretty intimate with from your
past work experience) were built from production 200 body shells.
However, the 1989 IMSA GTO "90 quattro" was a tube frame "sillouette"
race car from the ground up. No closer to being a Type 89 car than a
current Trans-Am mustang would be aside from being built in Germany and
sporting the four rings.

That said, I have seen your beautiful burgandy colored beast and sure do
like what you have done to that car. My second quattro was an '88 80q I
bought new after my '87 4kcsq commerative build was wrecked, repaired,
and never the same again. It was, for the most part, a disapointment
after that wonderful 4kq prior to getting hit but I know what the
potential of the type 89 can be and know that what you have done with
your car makes for a far from disapointing ride...well done!
