Mike,
I had them and didn't like them. They were IMHO marginal in most
conditions. - very much a compromise tire. They are probably OK if you
aren't an agressive driver, but I personally never liked the way they felt -
always a little scary. The best thing I can say for them is they are a
smooth ride and energy efficient.
Now, switch to the XGTV4's - very expensive, yes, but I have no feeling of
uncertainty with these tires. If they are going to break loose in the dry,
you get plenty of warning and heavy squeel. I mean youhave to try to get
them to slip going around a corner.
I have had no bad feeling in the rain at any speed, whereas with the MXV4's
I was chicken even doing the speed limit.
I will be interested to see how they do in the ice and snow, but from what I
can tell so far, they'll do just fine, and I won't need to buy snow tires.
Also, I have Pirelli M&S rated on the 4000(P6000's or 4000s, I forget - I
have seen versions of both and they are similar). I had fun last year with
these playing snowplow in the culdesac, and they went just fine up my 45
degree incline driveway in heavy snow, and on ice. Inexpensive(got them at
Sams Cub) good tire for year round use!
<I have a set of Michelin MXV4+ on my 1994 90S, and am wondering if anyone
has winter driving experience with these tires. I'm wondering if I should
go and get a set of winter tires and keep these ones for summer. If that's
the case, can anyone recommend good, reasonably priced snow tires?>
