V8/A6 owners

My mother's 760 turbo met a violent end last week.  Been trying to persuade 
her to go with an Audi as her next car.  She likes the look/luxury of the V8 
and first gen A6.  Her main concern is the maintenance costs verses her 
Volvo.  If you could share some first hand experience with your V8/A6 and 
things to watch for on a pre-purchase inspection, I could pass it on to her 
and hopefully put her in a nice Audi.
