Temp Gauge Behavior

My temp gauge goes to the first line and then falls all the way back, not 
registering at all.  I have replaced the multifunction sender and that did 
not seem to solve the problem.  Any ideas or suggestions would be 
appreciated.  The car is a 1991 Model 80.
