I've been getting custom grind by Elgin for the specific application
matching the engine, manifolds, exhaust, weight of car, desired performance,
etc. This can be done including all shipping for around $260.

about $50 for a solid lifter cam
about $40 for shipping 4 ways(you can cut this down by having the person you
are buying the cam from ship directly to Elgin).
about $170 for the grind +/- + the extras(eg. add air pump lobe) and - for
any wheelin' & dealin.

This I think is a good way to go for a custom cam ground for your needs.
However, patience is required as Elgin has a long(several months) turnaround
time.

<They just quoted me a ridiculously low price ($300) on
a 274-degree Schrick cam for my 4000q.

I like a great deal as much as the next guy, but with Blau asking $479 "on
special," I'm wondering if this isn't too good a price to be for real.>

That does sound good considering the legwork required doing it the Elgin
way.

<I belive Elgin cams can beat that price by nearly 150$ if not not mistaken.
Someone else here on the list was keeping us updated on the elgin cam and
prices a few months ago. I think it was Kwattro (carter). Anyone know?>
