When I had to mount a front plate to my 200t, I drilled two holes in the
*bottom* of the front bumper and mounted two angle brackets to those holes
so that the front part of the brackets angled up and stood out from the
bumper by a small margin...then I mounted a $3 plate from PepBoys to them
and the plate to that... the setup can be removed and the holes remain
invisible...unless you're on the ground.
Unfortunately the PO of my A6 wagon wasn't nearly as clever, and I've got 3
or 4 holes drilled in the front bumper :(
Course that's nowhere near the heartbreak of the two holes drilled through
the front valence of a friend's BMW Z8. In prepping the car for delivery,
the dealer figured that they had to permanently mount the plates on the car,
and drilled two holes in the bodywork between the upper and lower grilles.
There must be a better way to mount plates on that car...
Oh, and btw, anyone interested in a set of euro plates for their Audi can
find them on ebay.
