That's correct. My 80 and 90, both type 89s, are '87s. The type 89 80 was
introduced in Europe in late '86, the 90 in early '87.
In Europe, the type 81 80 and 90 had different bumpers, only the 90
received the late-model 4k bumpers. The 80's bumpers initially looked like
early 4k items, later cars had unique bumpers. See my site (URL below) for
