Towing with my Audi

My 1990 100TQW has a specified maximum on a braked trailer of 3748lbs.

It recently towed a 1990 100 S4 on a 750kg trailer for 100 miles.  We've
just stripped the clutch (throwout bearing) and the driven plate, clutch
cover and flywheel show no signs of distress.  In fact at 130000 miles
indicated and a probable true 170000 miles, there's about 0.3 mm left on
the clutch plate.
