just a thought...usefulness of CGT spoiler

The other day a person asked me if the soft spoiler on my '82 Coupe was
functional in any way. I can't remember what I said, probably something
along the lines of "I don't think that car goes fast enough to utilize
whatever amount of downforce it provides." Basically I tell people it makes
a better coffee table than a spoiler.

So I just have to ask, is this spoiler capable of providing downforce for,
say a track car? I understand most streetcar spoilers are just added
weight...well that's my opinion of them. I figure I'd have to be doing well
over the car's capable speed to get any decent downforce.
