Actually, the Westmoreland, PA plant. No VW's ever were built in Detroit.
VW engines were assembled in Germany, however, usually by lower paid
Romanians, etc. Basically, it's like many Government contracts and a lot
of private work labor is supplied by the lowest bidder (or lowest paid
employees.).
