I think that's very close to what I carry. I no
longer carry a Qt. of Syntec or Pentosin. Phil posted
a least once "find the leaks and fix em". So I did.
I find it is much easier to do repairs in the garage,
and services on a regular schedule. It is also much
cheaper to replace suspect parts at YOUR price, Your
timetable, and YOUR leisure, than to be held hostage
by some bozo who will overcharge you and then still
maybe not do it right because you're "stuck". Do I
feel like I've absolutely eliminated breakdowns? No,
but I don't worry about it anymore. So far I've
driven at least 7 years and 175-200k miles without
being stranded. Talked about that with the SO the
other day. Last we can remember was the AZ desert on
July 4th weekend. Her and kids driving a 90 Mercury
Topaz (yuck) 110*F and AC blasting. Temp gauge goes
to 3/4 plus and car starts bucking and shuts off.
Stuck for an hour plus, then it just starts up and
runs. Me thinks it was probably vapor lock? While
that car was very cheap and fairly dependable, it's
ride qualities really sucked.

ps-mileage may well be more like 250-300k
