For the US market:

The current generation A6 (type 4B, 1998+ model year) introduced a new
style door handle that is still pull-out flap design, but more rounded
looking. The 1996-98 A4 still had the same older style flat flap design
that was on the earlier Audis, but 1999-2001 A4s switched to the same
rounded style as the A6.

Interestingly, because remote keyless locking is now standard on all models,
there is no longer a key cylinder on the passenger side front door. There
is a key cylinder on the driver's door only, as well as at the trunk.
Also, the remote control also provides selective unlocking, just like you
do with the key (one press of the button unlocks only the driver's door and
fuel door, two presses unlocks everything).

The new Audis have a fancy folding key that works almost like a switchblade,
and that key also incorporates the remote control in a single unit. Very
similar to Mercedes.
