Interesting. Now how come it has been told to me by many folks, friend
with Mov'it reds, Javad, fellow at Ultimate Garage, and several others that
I need to switch from a 22.2mm to a bigger unit? There a lots of mixed
messages about upgrades for these cars, but this is the first time I've
heard that a smaller MC would be better for big brakes, even for the G60
upgrade.
I just got my new 25.4mm MC from Force 5 Auto, only $135, Semple rocks!
I am planning to install once I get some more ATE SB and the proper seal.
My friend with the Mov'it reds told me he noticed a huge difference when he
installed a 25.4 unit from an S2 into his 80. Told me the 22.2 stock MC
required lots of pedal travel and required more effort to get the brakes to
work. Once the 25.4 was installed he said the pedal was like stock, little
travel and much softer. I myself have a dying 22.2 MC and even with stock
brakes I get longer travel, sinking, and once it does grab the pedal feels
hard, doesn't work very well at stopping the car, scary almost. Don't worry
I ain't driving at all until this and the heater core get fixed, ugh. I
have a feeling all my vacuum assist is getting wasted on all that extra
pedal travel, yes/no?
I wonder what stock ATE single piston calipers will feel like with a
25.4 MC and stock flex hoses? Should I consider putting on S/S lines all
around since the 25.4 MC will move more fluid, i.e. more pressure? The
lines are 3-4 years old all around, look fine, inspected a month ago.
Waiting for spring and big brakes season:) Merry New Years!
