What model?
Audi has an issue with a blue wire that seem to cause the problem, under the
dash........it is not temperature sensitive issue just fails intermittently.
The blower control is also prone to problems (mounted on the evap. case and
is made by Delco), cost about $100 to replace.
Let me know,
Avi

Subject: Still Blowin fuses %###$$$!!
Hello all,
After blowing two fuses for the fresh air blower on my 84ksq during a cold
snap a few days ago, I decided to take advantage of a vacation day I took
today and swapped out the blower. It was in the balmy mid-20's and I took
my time and investigated everything I could while performing the swap. Upon
completing the job I hopped into the car, fired up the engine, waited
several seconds and turned on the blower...and it worked like a charm across
all four speeds! About two hours later (and 10 degrees cooler) my son took
the car out for ten minutes. When he returned he reported that he had turned
the blower on the lowest speed, and it had gone dead...of course the fuse
had blown again! Per the recommendation of a few kindly listers I
disconnected the AC clutch, replaced the 30A fuse again...and blew yet
another fuse! I've scoured the current paths laid out in the Bentley and
can't really identify potential culprits (although, the current path for
fuse #16 and the rear-window defogger (which works fine) look pretty
interesting. I've sort of eliminated the blower control switch and the
resistor, but have no idea where to go next. What on earth could be
temperature-sensitive in that circuit...or it the temperature just a
coincidental factor? HHHHeelllllllppppp!
TIA
Regards,
Soon to be snow-bound...
