... I can think of at least one obvious situation where Audi did redesign
the replacement part ... that being the door lock mechanism on the late
'80s-early '90s type 44. The other thing that can and does happen is that
if a part is redesigned in production and is compatible with the old part it
will supercede the part for repairs as well. I seriusly doubt that Audi is
much behind Diamler-Chrysler in that respect ...
