<< Aside from wheel styles and tire brands, is there anything wrong with this
plan? I would buy the wheels and tires from the Tire Rack. I would
appreciate any alternative suggestions or plans. Will the extra 1cm tire
width or 15" really change anything? Would mounting 205s on the original
 wheels be something to consider?

Will 15" change anything? Yes, unsprung weight, but that's more than likely
offset by the increase in track. More that likely, you'd want to go with
205/50/15's, rather than the 55's. Prepare for them to "tram line", or
follow cracks in the road. Also, I believe for best results with a
suspension upgrade, it's necessary to upgrade the shocks (Koni, Bilsteins, or
even brand new Turbo Gas Boges) and replace all bushings - otherwise, you're
defeating the purpose of replacing the springs, which probably aren't any of
the problem in your suspension anyways. Yes, they will help cornering at the
limit, though - lowering the center of gravity. If the suspension bill sets
you back too much, may I suggest a cheap, very effective alternative to the
upgrade in wheels - purchacing SP8000 195-55-14's, which are incredible tires
at an incredible deal right now. They would lower your gearing, increase
your cornering grip, and reduce unsprung weight, helping turn-in and ultimate
cornering. I would know, I have some. Great tires, track worthy, should
last beyond 20,000 if treated properly. Just my suggestions, but I've done
this to several cars now...
