While that may be a good advice in general, sometimes there are changes
to a model that are a regression. It's not common, but I can cite one
example: the front and rear windshield molding trim on my (vvery early 1980)
4000 is real metal, which still looks great today. On later 4Ks they went
to a plated plastic that invariably fades and shrinks, leaving an ugly gap
at the top and bottom by the 'connector' piece. This is only a cosmetic
issue, but I surmise the change is to save cost and perhaps make assembly
easier.
