I blew my intercooler end cap off. WAS Dead '88 5ktq - Help

Thanks for the info on were to look guys. So now that I've blown off one of the end caps to my intercooler what's next. Looks like I can fix it my self no prob. Saw the tabs holding it together and a little rubber seal. Was thinking about using a Little RTV when I put it back together and of course straps to hold it together from now on. Any thing to watch out for when doing this. Is the RTV going to be ok?
