My Dad told me about he and friends ramming potatoes up the exhaust of cars
when they were young, in pre-WWII Germany.  It would easily keep the two
stroke motors from starting.

Natually, I had to try it, on my Mom's Datsun 510.  It blew the potato out
and started without skipping a beat.

Now a carrot, which is a superior wedge to a potato, kept the 510 from
starting :-)  Boy was Mom mad!
