Hi there!

AFAIK, this is like a machanically driven halsf of a supercharger, it
is, as someone said, a centrifugal setup not like the Roots like
superchargers you see in a Jaguar or your local drag-cars.
I know, centrifugal types are used in the US, too, but I think the
Vortech types are more common, both here and there. BTW: Mercedes uses
that Roots style, too.
The German word for it is "Verdraengerlader"="displacement charger" as
the "rotary pistons" "displace" the air.
So, what type is this?
I think it is the follow-up to the ZF Turmat: The ASA TurboMex.
Check out their site at
http://www.a-s-a.de/
->Produkte->TurboMex
and compare it to what little can be seen at
http://www.mtm-online.de/English/A8/mot.htm
The A-S-A engineers were at least partially the ones who developped the
ZF Turmat, but the TurboMex seems to be really a cool thing! It has a
pretty intelligent boost control and is relatively compact.
I have scanned another picture from the excellent German book "Turbo-
und Kompressormotoren" ISBN 3-613-01950-7 published in the
Motorbuch-Verlag.
See it under

If someone is interested, I can scan more, also some from the Turmat.
