Made it to CO Springs last night. Had a great time
hanging out with Ed Kellock, Joe Fyffe, and Bruce
Bell. Thanks, guys, I know it's not always easy to
make time on a weekday night for such foolishness.
Bruce's new (and I mean that literally) '84 ur-q
made mine look like a basket case. A big thanks to
Ed for letting me crash here and use an entire
case of paper towels while changing my oil.
No problems yesterday, and the drive through Utah
and CO was incredible. The scenery makes a big
change for the worse today, but I should be able
to rack up the miles.
The more I think about the starting problem, the
more I suspect the timing reference sensor. When
I first did the LED test at the F/TCU connector,
it didn't flicker, but later on it did (can't
remember if that was before or after we got the
heater going). The IST procedure doesn't specify
polarity, so maybe I just had it reversed. I've
gotten lots of great suggestions, so if it happens
again I'll have some ammo.
Keep those fingers crossed, I hope to be home
tomorrow.
