I've seen maybe three posts (okay, maybe four or five) regarding this
in my years following this list of totally weird people, myself
included :) Spray the crap out of it with oily stuff once a year. 5k
gas tanks are really expensive compared to others. A used gas tank is
one of the few things that you know EXACTLY what you are getting. It's
a tank, that's it. No moving parts, nothing 'lectrical. If you want to
get a used one, just dress it up before install. I'll go with Big
Steve (or is that Steve the Big? :) on this one, try to patch it. 5+
hours seems good to me to R&R the tank. I think it would take me twice
that working from the ground. The tank was put on first, THEN all the
other stuff. The tank on my 87 5kq is still good, working on 14 years
now. Maybe they used cheap tanks on V8's :)

Best regards,

Geo
