Hall sensor function

Hi every audiphile

The V6-12V (2.8L) engine of my 90Q 1993 runs like a Harley Davidson. At idle
and between idle and 3000 rpm there are strong vibrations and the car
vibrates too. But above 3000
rpm and up to the red line, the engine run better (no more vibration), but
not perfectly. There are oscillations in the power available during
acceleration (above 3000 rpm), and even during cruise at constant speed.

Looking in the engine bay area, I fund that the hall sensor is broken. The
place where the wires connect to the sensor is totally broken in such a
manner than I can see inside of the sensor.

Someone knows the role of the cam position (hall sensor) versus the engine
speed sensor for the control of the ignition timing with Motronic engine
management ECU? The Bosch fuel injection book is not very useful to answer
my interrogations about the role of these sensors.

Your comments will be appreciated
