Synthetic gear oils

    Jim,

    Mobil guys recommending Castrol -     
    he must be seriously worried that SHC
    doesn't suit your application...

    Actually, I am in Finland, where I've been forced
    to start a car in -33 degrees Centigrade(-27,4 Fahrenheit)
    more than once, unfortunately. I am not sure 
    if the SHC I've been using is the same product 
    as the SHC50 you mentioned. I'll check and 
    let you know. 
    Gearbox works OK and the car is able to roll
    reasonably well(remember -33 degs!). With old
    mineral oils the drivetrain behaved like one huge
    bar of steel when cold...
