Yes there are different teeth and I believe the changeover can only be
determined by VIN
069 109 243B
   TENSIONER-TIMING BELT
      89 Only 100 - Thru Engine: NF 063969
      89 Only 200 Turbo Quattro - 10 Valve - Thru Vin: 44-K-004457
      91 Only 200 Turbo Quattro - 20 Valve

074 109 243
   TENSIONER-TIMING BELT
      89-91 100 - From Engine: NF 063970
      89-91 100 Quattro
      89-91 200 Turbo
      89-91 200 Turbo Quattro - 10 Valve - From Vin: 44-K-004458

The difference is square teeth or more rounded teeth. The belt tension is
important, it should be able to be twisted 90 degrees on the longest run.
The pump I put in came from Kris Manusha in Canada and it has a bronze
impeller, super high quality unit

This is my impression also. Just a few weeks ago
we were comparing camshaft belt pulleys from
different 20V engines(NA and Turbo). The
teeth profiles were different. Sorry, have no
    details on this...
