The problem partly stems from the fact that there is no 4.2L V-8 manual
offering in the States, and the cost of certifying that combination is
probably prohibitively expensive for a very small quantity of cars coming
to the States. If the S6 were offered, or even an A6 4.2 in manual, then
the numbers may be more compelling. Then again, BMW has certified the M5,
which is a rare car. I wonder if they can just emissions-certify the engine
as some sort of "evolution" of the 4.4L V-8?

No wonder! The general American is too lazy to shift for themselves! Or they
dont know how to rive a manual transmissioned car! Why else do you think
that almost all cars have slushboxes on your shores?
