Help! Water pump whistling+I love Audi dealers

Konstantin,
If the belt was wrong it would do way more than whistle. I got the wrong belt
(Super Torque) for my 89 sedan (which is different to my 89 wagon....) and
the two are so different, the pitch/shape of the teeth is so significant that
there is not any way to get to get the belt to mesh with the camshaft or crankshaft
pulleys. If you actually managed to fit the belt starting the car would be
enough to destroy any timing relation (and your valves).
If you give Rod @ TPC the VIN he can (in my experience) confirm exactly
which belt you should need. I would call him and confirm to put your
mind at ease.

Yes, I measure each belt these days. Both dealers I went to gave me a hyd pump
belt which is too small....

See above, your mileage may vary..... I have not followed this thread I
assume that you have already loosened the belt to allow the 'twist 90 Deg'
check?
