Type 44 Outside Rear View Mirrors

The outside rear view mirrors on my '88 5KSQ have blind spots. I am
occasionally surprised by a passing car, especially on the right. (In
Massachusetts it is legal to pass on the right. It is common in rush hour
traffic. Yes, I usually keep to the right.) I am an aware driver who keeps
a vigilant watch on traffic in the rear. That is why when someone passes
that I didn't see, I am surprised. The type 44 outside rear view mirrors
aren't just that good. I replaced my RH (passenger) side one with the
convex glass of the later '89 and up series. That helped some. At one time
I had those little convex stick-on mirrors. But they showed too much, and
it was hard to judge the distance of the traffic behind me.
Anybody have a good way to adjust these mirrors? Presently they show
straight back. If I move my head a little, the just show the side of the
car.
