boost problem solved

Awhile ago I posted about my 3" exhaust reducing back pressure and in turn
increasing boost. I went from 12.5 to 15. Well after putting $46 in gas
in the tank. 4 gallons of VP fuels "C12" at $4.20 a gallon and 108 Motor
Octane (significantly higher that pump octane (RON)) mixed with the
balance of 93 pump gas. The attemp was to avoid driving through the knock
sensor caused by the lean/high boost condition. The car felt slightly
slower esp. at high RPM.

The answer? I found that the cloth covered WG actuator hose was rotten
and no longer really conneccted. Hmmm... fixed this morning along with
replumbing my BOV to a REAL vacuum source. And now I have a significantly
faster, sideways driving sedan, with 12.5 psi and... a vacuum leak caused
by the BOV open to atmosphere.

All in all, pay attention when you read SJM's stuff because he IS right!
