4k stalling all of a sudden

All,

I'm a Digest lister with a fun 86 I-5 problem. Engine runs fine, without any 
of the normal annoyances. I turn a corner hard this morning (not even AX 
hard) and the engine revs slightly, then almost stalls. It does this 
sporadically for the next mile. When I stop, the rpms drop and it stalls. I 
check the engine and push up and down on the rubber coil cover and it revs 
for a second, then idles fine.

It felt like a fuel starvation problem, but I have a 1/2 tank. Is the coil a 
red herring?

Any BTDT?

By the way, the starter, I think, makes a gronk-gronk noise just after the 
engine catches. Any thoughts?
