1992-1995 100 (A6) V6 2.8 Water Temp Gauge / Oil Temp Gauge

In my experience with 100's, the thick line is APPROXIMATELY the normal
operating temp.  I have seen it go 1-2 lines either way, depending on
conditions.  No matter what, it should definitely hit that line at some
point.  My guess would be that either the thermostat is stuck open or
removed altogether.
I would recommend getting this checked out, because 1. the engine is not
running at normal(optimum) operating temperature, and 2. your car won't heat
up as well.
