But the only 2 screws I can find, at the top outside edges just below the window columns, don't seem to free the panel.

You must do the following to free the door panel on a 5K turbo/turboq:
1. Remove the power side mirror inside trim plate screw and trim plate
2. Unscrew the door lock pin
3. Pry out the little tab under the inside door latch trim plate and
remove the screw under it
4. Pry out the trim on the inside armrest pull, which will reveal 3 screws,
one on top and two below. Remove those, then remove the armrest pull.
5. Under the armrest pull there is an additional screw, remove it.
6. Remove screws at the two upper edges of the door panel
7. The lower and side edges of the door panel is secured to the door
frame with plastic clips. Carefully pop them out by prying with a
flat, non-scratching instrument (door trim removal tool or strong
putty knife).
8. Lift door panel *carefully* upward and off.
9. There is a sound insulation sheet under the door panel that can be
removed by removing the upper clips. If you're merely going to
retrieve an item from inside the door, you don't have to do this.
Just lift up the insulation sheet and work through the exposed door
frame holes.
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
