clunk on front of 85 in vol 1 #499 digest

Hello Barry - new to the list here.  Please advise if posting in the
incorrect method. Have an 1983 5000 Turbo gas.  In 1992, while I was out of
 town, my wife was driving the audi and had the clunking noise up front on
turns.  Asked her to have her brother look at it and check the cv joints. 
Unfortunately, the balls came out at an intersection before he had a chance
to check it out and she lost control of the car with the kids on board. 
Scary indeed, but no casualties.  Just another source for you to check.
