Help, new wheels scraping on '85 Coupe GT

Thanks, it is scraping on the very edge of the fender (I guess you could
call it the rim of the metal and the outside edge of the tire.  The wheels
are 35 offset, I was told this is correct.

I'm pretty sure shocks do not affect ride height, they only dampen the
movement of the spring, in fact they were called dampers in UK. The car
really rides on springs and the shocks keep the car from bouncing out of
control. Try to figure out where it's rubbing, maybe you can use a spacer
or get a different offset wheel for the rears as you sometimes have to for
5k's....
