Dash lights

Classic symptoms of a bad ground on the instrument panel main board, Ed.
Pull the instrument panel and remove the board. There are two connectors on
the board that look like PC two-pin jumper blocks. Resolder them to the
board even if the joints look good. This solved the exact same problem on my
'91 200q.
