For 2000 at least, the Sport tire was Conti Sport Contacts, which while not
great, are by no stretch a shabby tire. I think we'd all want RE-730s. :)

Literally, my choice was between Avant and 2.7t (here in the US we can't get
an Avant with a 2.7t, and the allroad wasn't here yet). I had to choose the
engine, particularly being at altitude. Here, the 2.8 is doggish in a car
that large (its 200bhp is reduced to, effectively, about 150). Similarly,
I'm trying to convince my wife that she'll like the 1.8T A4 better than the
2.8, but she's jonesed for power seats. Go figure. :)
