I replaced the distributor on my 91 2c.  There is no special procedure - just 
set the engine at TDC (so you have a good reference point), remove the clamp 
and pull it out.   The clamp can be seen between the head and the intake 
manifold.  I made a special wrench to make it easier to get at the nut on the 
clamp but it shouldn't take more than 15 minutes to pull the distributor.  
Before you work in this area of the engine, plug all the holes in the 
flywheel housing, so a dropped nut won't end up in the wrong place.  Also, 
keep checking prices, I think I paid somewhere in the $225 range.
